Annual Hydrant Flushing

NOTICE – ANNUAL HYDRANT FLUSHING:   Aug. 28 to 31 — 7:00am to 4:00pm.

Monday……….. Aug. 28 – East of the Souris River

Tuesday………. Aug. 29 – East of 1st Street N and S

Wednesday….. Aug. 30 –  West of 1st Street S, & South of 1st Ave W

Thursday…….. Aug. 31 – West of 1st Street N,  North of 1st Ave W, & West of Plum Creek

  • During the flushing process, you may notice a slight discoloration or cloudy appearance in your water, and the water pressure may drop when work is being done in your immediate neighborhood.
  • We encourage water users to check their cold water for discoloration prior to using water for cooking, and use in automatic washers & dishwashers. Once the hydrant flushing is complete, the water quality will improve.
  • The Public Works Department flushes the fire hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are properly working, and to assure continued high quality drinking water. This process also provides the Fire Department and Water Treatment Plant with valuable information.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact 204-483-5200. Thank you for your cooperation.
