1. Campground & Pool Supervisor Position – Full Time Starting May.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood and Souris Parks Board is looking for a mature individual to preform administrative/supervision duties at the Souris Pool and Campground for the 2017 season.  This position would be full time term from May to September, 2017.  Successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.  Duties would include but not limited to the operation of the Campground Park/Pool Administrative Office, supervision of summer staff.

2. Recreation Department(Pending funding approval)

Duties include day camps for children, planning special events and programs.

a. Assistant Recreation Director – May start

b. Day Camp Leaders (2) – May start

c. Day Camp Leader – end of June – start

3. Swimming Pool – (Proof of qualification required)

a. Lifeguards – June and July starts

b. Instructors – June and July Starts

4. Campground/Pool Office Staff – June and July start

Positions will require weekends and evenings, working in the Campground/Pool office.

Excellent communication skills required.

1. Victoria Park Maintenance Supervisor Full-Time April – October 2017

Successful candidate must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.  Must be energetic, organized, ability to work with minimal supervision.  Duties will include but not limited to supervision of 3 staff members, carry out grounds keeping & maintenance within the park and campground as well as various public areas of town, and assist with town beautification.  Some weekends and evening will be required.

2. Victoria Park / Campground Maintenance Staff – May start and July starts

To work with Maintenance Supervisor with outdoor maintenance.  Duties including grass mowing, watering planters.  Full-time positions will require some weekends and possibly some evenings. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2017.

Public Appeal – Park Personal Items on Private Property

Public Appeal – Park Personal Items on Private Property

It has been noted that several residents of Souris are utilizing public/municipal property for parking and/or storing their personal items, i.e. vehicles, campers, trailers, etc.  This common occurrence is not a permissible activity and cannot continue.  Personal items need to be parked and/or stored on private property and not on streets and back lanes.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood Council wishes to advise of possible safety problems this activity may have to both the general public and our employees, i.e. visual impediment, traffic flow restrictions, snow traps, snow removal hazard, emergency interference/delays, maintenance delays & public/staff safety.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood Council is concerned with the potential liability created by the citizens’ actions and wishes to inform the residents that the municipality will not accept any responsibility for damages to persons or property.

Council requests residents to take immediate action to rectify this situation; and that citizens refrain from any such actions in the future.  Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Curbside Garbage Info

Curbside Garbage Pickup

Reminder to residents:

  • Heavy bags will not be picked up as bags can tear.
  • Please keep areas where garbage is stored as clean as possible. Garbage cans are preferred as it keeps animals out.
  • If a Statutory Holiday occurs during the work week, curbside garbage collection occurs one day later for that week only.

Tree Branches and Bagged Leaves
Tree branches and bagged leaves are generally picked up on Fridays. Please have the branches and bagged leaves put to the curb so Public Works staff can picked them up. If you have a truck or trailer and are able to bring them to the Transfer Site (1 mile east of town on PTH2) there is a large pile for trees and leaves.
