Access TV/Community Programming- This group of enthusiastic volunteers devote a great deal of time to video taping and promoting local events and airing them regularly. As well as taping Church services, Council meetings and debates, they also provide a community bulletin board to advertise upcoming events.
Agricultural Society- This is a long standing institution in our community with approximately 40 active members. The purpose is to maintain the history of and promote agriculture to the community at large. They organize and manage the annual Souris Fair, maintain the fairgrounds and display buildings and preserve and maintain the antique machinery display on the fairgrounds.

Avalon Theatre: A volunteer board of 10 who seeks out and assigns volunteers to operate the Theatre Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights weekly. They order, advertise and staff the film presentations and assist in the maintenance of the Avalon Theatre building.

Day Care - The facility on 1st Street provides child care. The Day Care also provides a Nursery School program and a before and after school program that is operated out of the school. A volunteer board of 10 oversees the management of 15 staff as well as managing grant applications, fundraising, and ensuring that all government regulations are followed. |

Donor's Choice- A board of 6 organizes an annual canvas of the Town with the help of many volunteers. This group is like the United Way in that they disburse funds to the major charities eg. Cancer, Heart, CNIB, as well as local organizations that meet their criteria. eg. Palliative Care, Heritage Club and Fire Department. |

Friends of the Bell - Volunteers are raising funds to mount the Old Town Bell on a permanent site overlooking Victoria Park, so it is both visible and accessible to residents and visitors as a commemoration of Souris' town heritage. |

Heritage Club - promotes and encourages the development and preservation of the heritage of Souris and District. This includes the preservation and maintenance of the Plum 1883 Heritage Church Museum. They have a membership of 26. The Club was responsible for the 2006 History of Souris book produced last year. |

Hillcrest Museum - A board of 12 members gather, maintain, preserve and promote the history of our community. Up to 100 volunteers are involved for tours of the Museum, agricultural display and the caboose. Three students are hired for July and August to assist with these efforts. |

Parent Advisory Council - PAC is an active volunteers group of parents who provide a liaison between school and parents.
Their responsibilities include
- coordinating volunteers to run the microwave project at noon for Grades K-3
- providing free childcare for school functions,
- hosting an annual staff appreciation breakfast and BBQ
- advertising and encouraging early Kindergarten registration in order to have have Government funding for staff in place by September and hosting an information day for parents and educators with prominent speakers.

Souris & District Arts Council
Souris Beautification Committee - The primary responsiblity of this committee is improving and maintaining the natural heritage and beauty of the town. Projects have improved a considerable number of areas, and has instilled a sense of pride in our residents.
Souris Fellowship Club - They presently offer Floor shuffleboard, 500, bridge and other activities as planned. Members are 25 years and up. Annual membership is $25.00.
Souris and Area Dance Club - Organized since 1992, this group of community members gather at the community hall to enjoy "old tyme" dance nights.
Souris Parks Board - The Souris Parks Board mainly acts as manager for the park and camp ground.
The members meet approx. 6 times a year. They are responsible for the day to day operation as well as the long term planning. They make the budget for the year based on Town of Souris and RM of Glenwood grants as well as projected revenue from camping fees.
It is also based on projected expenses including employee wages, repairs and upgrades such as plumbing and wiring. Also included in the budget is capital costs such as new mowers and other equipment.
The board is responsible for hiring all employees for the park, both campground attendants and grounds keepers. They are responsible for looking after the bird sanctuary although most of the feeding of the birds is done by volunteers.
The Parks Board quite often needs new members, as existing members retire. Any resident of the town or RM would be welcome on the board.
Souris Senior Men's Club (55+) - This Souris & District Senior Mens Club enjoys playing pool as a social pastime in a smoke-free environment. They gather week day mornings (and occasionally on weekends) from 9:30 - 12:00 noon in the basement of Hillcrest Museum (south door). They have two full-sized snooker tables. New comers are welcome.
Souris & District Harvest Food Bank: Established in March 2007 to provide assistance to those in need. With a board of 6 volunteers, they organize the collection and dispersal of food twice a month. This food bank will operate in conjunction with the Christmas Cheer Program. It is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 5-7pm at St. Paul's United Church. Access into the building in the North east corner.
Souris and Glenwood Community Foundation - A board of 12 volunteers provides annual grants to area non-profit groups. Past recipients include Scouts, Guides, Beautification committee, and the Fire Department. Their funds are from interest that is earned from an original endowment by a local doctor, subsequently augmented by contributions from other residents supportive of the work being done.
Souris and Glenwood Fire Department - A group of 25 volunteers respond to fires and any other emergency, including vehicle crashes. They have 2 pumper trucks, a water tanker, rescue truck and a water rescue craft. They also own and maintain a 1904 pumper that was restored and is run occasionally. It is on display in a facility near the Museum. They operate out of a brand new Fire Hall.
