Visit Demography

The population of Souris and Glenwood has increased slightly over the past decade. This is contrary to many parts of Canada, where rural areas are losing population.

Souris has many natural assets as a place to live, and is within easy commuting distance from Brandon, a city of near 50,000. Located in prime agricultural lands, farming continues to be our major industry, with many farmers over time retiring to town or choosing to live in town and commute to their farms.

The population data in the link below describe this scenario, with the substantial group of labour force age illustrating the attraction of the area for work as well as a pleasant place to live and raise a family. The strong representation of seniors reflects the positive nature of the community as a residential town, with all the services needed for a long and healthy life.
