Victoria Park

Victoria Park encompasses some 25 acres of well forested scenic and geologically interesting land honed by glaciers and water.  A lush oasis along the shores of the Souris River, Victoria Park provides an idealistic backdrop for the perfect day trip or family picnic. Home to a 500 year old Oak Tree, childrens playground, boat launch, playing field, swimming pool, a beautiful campground and our famous Bird Sanctuary, Victoria Park really is the perfect place to spent a day.

While visiting the park, be sure to challenge the family to cross the swinging bridge!

Souris  Parks Board - The Parks Board mainly acts as manager for the park and camp ground.  The members meet approx. 6 times a year.  They are responsible for the day to day operation as well as the long term planning.  They make the budget for the year based on Town of Souris and RM of Glenwood grants as well as projected revenue from camping fees.  It is also based on projected expenses including employee wages, repairs and upgrades such as plumbing and wiring.  Also included in the budget is capital costs such as new mowers and other equipment.  The board is responsible for hiring all employees for the park, both campground attendants and grounds keepers.  They are responsible for looking after the bird sanctuary although most of the feeding of the birds is done by volunteers. The Parks Board quite often needs new members, as existing members retire.  Any resident of the town or RM would be welcome on the board.
