COVID-19: Returning Residents / Travelers & Self-Isolating

Traveling Home to Souris-Glenwood?

With warmer weather in Manitoba, the snowbirds are returning to Souris-Glenwood. If you or a family member of yours has just returned or is just about to come back from an international trip, including the United States;

Or those residents that have traveled to areas of Canada where confirmed cases of the Covid-19 pandemic have been confirmed.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood is strongly suggesting that all returning residents consider Self-Isolating for 14 days to prevent any possible exposure to other residents. These safety measures are to help slow down the spread of the virus and therefore assist our health care system to cope with this situation.

Please be aware of the following:

Those at the greatest risk of severe outcomes of the Covid-19 pandemic include:

▪ anyone over 65 years of age

▪ anyone with underlying medical conditions

▪ anyone with compromised immune systems.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood is reminding all returning residents it is important for to:

  • Self-Monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days after returning to Canada.
  • Travelers who develop cold or flu-like symptoms within 14 days of returning to Canada should contact Health Links-Info Santé to determine if testing for COVID-19 should be considered.
  • In cases where testing is not recommended, they should Self-Isolate until they are well.

Public health officials are also reminding all Manitobans to frequently wash their hands, cough and sneeze into their sleeves and to stay home when sick.

Any person concerned about their exposure to or risk of having COVID-19 should first call Health Links–Info Sante at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257 (toll-free) to ensure they receive medical advice appropriate to their specific health concerns.

Being prepared also means seeking official sources of information to ensure the most up-to-date and accurate information is being used.
