Red Cross Swim Lessons 2018

Swim Lesson Registration opens April 2nd 9:00am. 

**New this year we will be scheduling class times following the registration numbers**  All classes will fall between 8:00am and 1:00pm.   Scheduling the classes after registration will allow us to work with fluctuating numbers in the classes and hopefully allow us to best utilize pool space and provide the appropriate number of classes.   This will be a one year trial basis.

Swim Lessons 2018 will be offered the following weeks

July 2 – July 6           Two classes in the morning

July 9 –  July 13        Two classes in the morning

July 16 – July 20      Two classes in the morning

July 23 – July 27      Two classes in the morning

July 30 – August 3   Two classes in the morning

August 13 – August 17  Two classes in the morning

August 20 – August 24  Two classes in the morning

Red Cross Lifeguard Course 2018

Souris, Manitoba – June 1,2,3  and  June 15,16,17
Cost:  $300.00

The Red Cross Lifeguard is recognized as a standard requirement for lifeguarding in Manitoba.

Course Length: 40 hours 

Course pre-requisite: All registrants are required to provide the following at the time of registration:

  • current Standard First Aid (level C CPR) certificate
  • Assistant Red Cross Lifeguard Course
  • proof of age (participants must be 15 years of age by the last day of the course ).  

Participants are expected to attend this course in its entirety

RED CROSS ASSISTANT LIFEGUARD COURSE 2018

August 6,7,8,9,10

The Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard Course is 25 hours in length.  Participants must be 12 years of age by the start of the course.  Participants must be able to swim the equivalent of Red Cross Swim Kids 10.

RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE 2018

Course Components & Length

 

  • WSI—Skills Evaluation* – 3–6 hours
  • WSI—Online – 14–20 hours
  • WSI—Teaching Experience – minimum 8 hours
  • WSI—Classroom and Pool – 9 hours classroom, 12 hours pool.

* WSI—Skills Evaluation can be completed before, during or after the WSI—Online or WSI—Teaching Experience, but must be completed before attending the WSI—Classroom and Pool.

Pre-course Requirements

15 years or older by the last day of the WSI – Classroom and Pool, ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids 10 strokes and skills, and hold one of the following certifications (not required to be current): Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard, Emergency First Aid or equivalent (Bronze Cross certification is the required prerequisite in Quebec). 

Completion Criteria

  • Attend, participate in, and complete 100% of all four course components.
  • WSI—Teaching Experience: complete a minimum of 4 hours** in each of a Red Cross Swim Preschool and a Red Cross Swim Kids class within 6 months of finishing the WSI—Online.
